Youth Work Ireland Cork has a Local Training Initiative programme (LTI) sponsored by Cork ETB.   Vacancies exist for;

LTI Coordinator:

The Coordinator will support the running of a full time training programme leading to a QQI Major Award at Level 4 in General Learning.

The successful candidate will be required to tutor young adults (aged between 16 and 24 years) to QQI level 4 modules in;

Drawing;

Painting;

Digital Media;

Communications;

Information Technology;

Personal Effectiveness;

Business English;

Functional Maths

 

The Coordinator will be required to manage/administer and organize the programme in conjunction with the Assistant Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be required to prepare and assess the QQI Major Award working with the Assistant Coordinator.

Skills & Education:

The successful candidate will be required to have a strong knowledge of the National Qualifications Framework System of accreditation and a QQI quality assurance process. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills and a team worker.

Candidates must hold a relevant qualification in teaching and a relevant qualification in a particular discipline (according to the NFQ) that is at least one level above the module or overall course certification that is being delivered and have at least two years relation professional experience. Previous experience in the coordination of a LTI will be an advantage. Excellent computer literacy is essential to the role.

 

Assistant Coordinator:

Youth Work Ireland Cork is also recruiting an Assistant Coordinator.

The Assistant coordinator involves supporting the Coordinator in the delivery and the coordination of training on the ETB LTI course. The position includes the provision and support to the Coordinator in managing and supporting the participants on the LTI course and ensuring participants receive the required training for the FETAC level 4 Award and develop the necessary skills, including personal skills.

Candidates will be required to hold a relevant national qualification in teaching and a relevant qualification in a particular discipline (according to the NQF) that is at least one level above the module or overall course certification and have at least two years experience. Excellent computer literacy is essential to the role.

 

Both positions are 35hr per week for a period of 33 weeks, and are subject to funding.

Job Descriptions 

LIT Coordinator: 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To develop a work plan in consultation with other appropriate staff, CETB, and trainees in order to
  • Implement a training programme which meets the needs of trainees.
  • To design and plan the Participants ILP’s (Individual Learning Plans) in   consultation with thetrainees and relevant staff.
  • Direct delivery of modules to all trainees on the Training Program.
  • Prepare participants portfolios for FETAC accreditation.
  • Recruitment of trainees to programme.
  • To co-ordinate the activities and modules related to the Training Programme.
  • Maintain all necessary financial records and provide monthly and other financial reports to YWICork Administrator

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provision of ongoing individual support to trainees in the form of regular one-to-one supervision to ensure they benefit from and successfully complete the programme
  • Evaluate trainees progress with regular group and individual evaluations
  • Hold regular meetings with the LTI Assistant Co-ordinator to develop ongoing work plans
  • Monitor and evaluate overall programme in accordance with CETB procedures
  • Keep project records in accordance with FETAC, CEI and FAS requirements
  • Planning of future programmes
  • To uphold the ethos of Youth Work Ireland Cork (YWIC), which operates accordingly to the principles of Youth Work
  • and the principles of Adult Education
  • To attend relevant external training
  • Implement YWIC’s Health and Safety procedures
  • Provide cover for other members of staff when required
  • To take on other tasks and duties that will further develop the aims and objectives of YWICork
  • Report to and attend monthly support & Supervision with YWICork Director of Services

CETB duties:

  • Co-ordinate the learners’ registration with CETB when joining the LTI Programme
  • Monitor, record and report learners’ attendance to CETB on a weekly basis and maintain attendance sheets.
  • Under supervision of YWICork Director of Services, general liaison with CETB for all matter relating to the Training Programme
  • Submission of termination forms to CETB when trainees finish on Training Programme
  • Deliver 25% of the LTI Training

Meetings & Networks:

  • Attend YWICork staff meetings as required
  • Liaise and cooperate with other areas within YWICork and other services in Gurranabraher/Churchfield to ensure effective service delivery to learners
  • Liaise with other relevant groups both locally and nationally

Essential Skills/Experience required:

  • Teaching Qualification or other equivalent qualification
  • Experience in delivering training programmes/modules
  • Experience in youth development and community education
  • Experience in programme co-ordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Commitment to anti-racist policies and practice

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of youth issues
  • Facilitation and group work skills

 

Hours of work are 35 per week normally 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Assistant Coordinator:

 

  • Assist the LTI Coordinator in the recruitment of learners to the LTI
  • To co-ordinate some of the activities and modules related to the LTI
  • To assist in the provision of ongoing support to learners to ensure they benefit from and successfully complete the programme
  • Design, deliver and evaluate modules for the LTI
  • Deliver 75% of the LTI Training
  • Organise accreditation of the LTI modules where appropriate in conjunction with the LTI Coordinator
  • Together with YWICork’s Director of Services and LTI Coordinator identify, recruit and supervise tutors for modules
  • Attend supervision and performance monitoring with LTI Co-ordinator or YWICork’s Director of Services
  • Hold regular meetings with the LTI Co-ordinator to develop ongoing work plans
  • Assist with the evaluation of learners’ progress with regular group and individual evaluations
  • Assist the LTI Coordinator to facilitate progression to other forms of training, education or employment
  • Together with the LTI Coordinator and the YWICork’s Director of Services to monitor and evaluate overall programme in accordance YWICork and CETB procedures
  • Keep and maintain project records in accordance with requirements of YWICork and CETB
  • Plan future programmes
  • Report to LTI Coordinator and the YWICork Director of Services and complete monthly progress reports
  • Assist in the maintenance all necessary financial records and provide monthly and other financial reports to YWICork administrator
